Fáilte go dtí leathanna idirlíon na Tearmann.
Welcome to Termon
An Tearmann (Termon) means Place of Sanctuary and is situated in the north west of Donegal. It is eight miles from Letterkenny, Donegal’s main town and seven miles from Creeslough.Termon is made up of many townlands including Currin, Doon, Drumlaurgagh, Drumbrick, Drumoughill, Cloncarney, Terhillion, Gortnalaragh, Clonkilly, Knocknabollan, Fawns, Drumdeevin, Drumfin, Barnes, Stragraddy, Ballybuninabber, Letterfad, Goal, Gurtin and Loughaskerry.
There are several hills close to Termon including Lough Salt (469m), the hills of Barnes-Crockmore, and Stragraddy (285m). All of the hills offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside. There are also the higher mountains of Muckish (666m) and Errigal (751m) rising into the landscape of the area, providing a dramatic backdrop to this beautiful area of natural, unadultered beauty.
If you go out onto the main road you could turn for Gartan –the birthplace of St Colmcille or head to Glenveagh National Park.
Termon is part of the Donegal Gaeltacht, a tradition which the community is proud of – Irish being spoken in the Naoirana to the children from the age of 3 until they leave the community for school in Letterkenny at the age of 12.
We have a wide choice of activities in the area. The area is steeped in the Gaelic football tradition with almost every family in the area involved, coaching beginning from 6 years. There are also soccer teams and water sports.
There are a number of very active organisations in Termon. Among these organisations are the Club Oige and the Gaelic football and the Comhlacht Forbartha.
The population in Termon exceeds 500 people with approximately 200 families.
We would be interested in hearing from anyone who would like to contribute or be included in this site. Contact:cluboigeantearmann@eircom.net
